DAC vs EF

Aug 6, 2011 at 10:18 PM

Hi,

Is DAC to perfrom CRUD same as Entity Framework? If not can I use:

1. Only EF to generate ORM.

2. Both DAC and EF.

Also, does DAC uses EF behind the scene. Not sure if DAC supports the following:
1. Stored Procedures.
2. Refresh if Schema changes are made on database tables/stored procedures etc.

Thanks.

Hi!

Currently the DACs are targetted to Enterprise Library 5.0 DAAB only. :( I was working on EF support but then gave up half way because of its performance issues in high-load enterprise apps. I will work on it again probably later but it won't be too soon.

At the moment, if you want to use EF, you can just create the Entities using EF and not Inertia. Then you can code your own DACs without Momentum. After that you can use the other code generators to continue generating the higher layers. I did that in my research apps.

The Momentum DAC gen does not support stored procedures currently because I am not a fan of stored procedures :p. Nevertheless, I will put your request in my feature list for future :)
