Expense Sample: How to communicate with Workflow from Hosts layer?

Jan 20, 2012 at 6:54 PM

Serena,

I have been trying to follow ExpenseSample step by step. Can you help me with the question like above.
How does Hosts become programmatically aware of Workflow activities that Clients can use?

Expense service is easier. It consumes contract IExpenseService.cs leading to ExpenseComponent.cs and finally ExpenseDataAccess.cs.

Hi Fun Chiat,

Unfortunately, LASG is unable to provide the level of automation for Workflow Services as it did for WCF. This is because the Workflows are in xaml format and compiled by the workflow runtime. Because of this, I am unable to use Reflection to expose what is inside the workflow. Therefore, the current level of automation for Workflow Services is only up to Activities.

The next version (currently under beta testing) will provide a little more on generating the service config for Workflow Services.

At this moment, you will need to manually enter the service configuration in the host web.config and manually write code in your Controller classes to call the workflow methods.

Best Regards,
Serena
